Cloud Monkey Installing VMRC “Failed to install hcmon driver” on Win 10 Cloud Monkey. The VMware Labs flings monthly for January 2021: Happy New Year; How to not forward CTRL+WIN+Left, CTRL+WIN+Right shortcuts to guest Win7, but use the host’s Win10 “virtual windows” left/right swap function? VMware player 16 crashing on Linux host and locking up the entire machine. VMware Workstation Pro 16 cannot be.
Good day. I’ve been trying to install VMware Workstation 15 Pro for several days now.
This is my first virtual machine on this computer with Windows 10 Pro operating system. When I try to install, I get the error vmware hcmon driver failed, and the installation is rolled back.
On the Internet they advised:
Vmware Remote Console Failed To Install Hcmon Driver Windows 10
– installation with administrator rights
– update drivers
– remove the hcmon.sys driver (although I don’t have one)
– install .NET Framework 3.5.1
Failed To Install Hcmon Driver Windows 10 Vmware Usb
All of these steps were completed, but the installation was unsuccessful.
Please tell me how to solve this issue.
Thank you so much.

Trying to install the VMware Remote Console software on a new Windows 10 computer consistently resulted in the error message ‘Failed to install the hcmon driver.’
After several attempts with minor troubleshooting changes (fresh reboot, background processes killed), I still could not install the software. Searching for the error message, resulted in a knowledge base article from VMware that recommended uninstalling vSphere client instances before installing the VMRC. I did not have the vSphere client installed and I received the message on multiple computers.
Finally, I attempted another workaround – elevating command prompt. I copied the .msi installer locally and ran command prompt as administrator. I then navigated the CMD window to my installer.
With that command, the installation wizard again launched and it was able to proceed through to completion without receiving the hcmon driver error.
